About 4 weeks ago when we hired the El Chupacabra Luchador he has been tasked with one thing: building page.ly 3.0.
Page.ly is an ever growing and ever evolving platform. We push updates and tweaks nearly every day either to enhance the front end user experience or speed up something on the backend.
Page.ly v1 was powered by a lone dedicated server at theplanet.com
Page.ly v2 which you have all come to know and love is currently powered by 7 VMWARE vps nodes at firehost.com. Handling millions of page requests a day and terabytes of bandwidth every month it works. But it can and should work better.
In the lifecycle of our bootstrapped company we have grown in phases, carefully managing resources vs. cash. We are liberal with resources to maintain quality of service but have been careful not to do too much too soon and risk prolonged maintenance issues.
Page.ly v3 represents a significant cash investment for us to build, test, and deploy an all new secure-cloud [read firehost's post] ultra scalable, failover tolerant, and super fast system for hosting our thousands of current and 10′s of thousands future WordPress clients and sites.
I wont spill all the technical details and allow El Chupa to share them with you when he comes up for air. We are making good headway and expect to begin testing new sites in 3-4 weeks and begin moving existing clients a short time after that with the transition fully complete 8-9 weeks from now.
Thanks again for all your patience and trust, and we look forward to growing with you.

This is exciting news! I wish you all the best as you scale. I really do believe that the patience, common sense, and vision that you’ve applied from the beginning will pay off in a big way for you all. I’ll keep building sites and using page.ly…you keep on doing your thing!
We are really happy with your service and look forward to the improvements.
Thanks!
