Yesterday the fine folks at wordpress.org announced they discovered and quickly fixed a security issue with a few key plugins, 1 of which we use on all page.ly sites.
- Kudos to the core team
- The likelihood of this affecting our sites was low. Clients don’t update their plugins themselves very often (since we do it) and the bad plugins were only available for download for a very short time before being fixed.
- As a precautionary measure we pushed plugin updates to all sites on our network a week or so ahead of our planned time.
- There were a few reports of plugins not re-activating properly after our system-wide plugin update, and all customers were notified by email to double-check their sites and make sure their chosen plugins are turned on. We apologize to those customers it may have affected and are reviewing our plugin update process to mitigate this.
Thanks again to all our customers for their business.
