On a personal level we have consistently supported charitable efforts in our own community and globally. Doing a little bit here or there as we were able. We want to do more, and make a larger impact. After careful consideration, we are proud to announce that henceforth, 1% of our annual profits with be donated to St. Judes Hospital exclusively.

Why did we choose St. Judes Hospital?

We chose St. Judes because our values align, we want to help children and their families who may not have the luxury to fulfill their dreams, and we want our clients to feel that they are a part of something bigger.

With our first child on the way the mission of St. Judes is even more relevant for us. Some parents may wish for a boy or a girl, or an athlete or genius. Ultimately though all parents wish for a healthy child.

At Page.ly, we innovate in the space, offer a service we would use ourselves, add more customer value with ease and simplicity, strive to continue to offer the best solution, and often put our clients above our profit margins. Our values align because St Jude’s doctors and administrators must innovate in order to provide quality care, they provide value by using proven and cutting-edge medical methods as well as providing procedures for the best possible outcomes for their patients, and they don’t turn away families who aren’t able to pay.

Josh and I feel very fortunate in that we had the luxury to go to school, make friends, head off to college, get married, have a home, start businesses, and plan for our future. It pains us to know that there are children who may never have the chance to experience any of these luxuries due to illness and the energy required to fight for ones life. We sometimes take for granted our bad days because we try very hard to provide the best to our clients but in reality the fact that we can have just 1 bad day now and again is a luxury. I am grateful for all that life has to offer and we want to give back because together we may be able to help a child have some of these experiences too.

I’ve watched the St. Judes programs on TV and they are heartbreaking. No matter how much I could give, I never felt it would be enough. Josh and I want our clients to feel that they are a part of something bigger. Now, when our clients see one of the St. Judes programs, they will know that they have contributed a small amount that is compounded with other clients to make a difference.

At the end of the day, in the grand scheme of things, we are just 1 company trying to do what’s right and change the world.

Why 1%?

We like to support good causes. Our friend Matt Galligan has started the 1% of nothing project aimed specifically at connecting tech startups to charitable causes. When Matt told us what he was doing a few months back, it dovetailed perfectly with our own goals. Hence we were among the first of hopefully many to come to join him in the effort.

We encourage other companies to participate, choose a cause and get behind it. There is more to life then your next round of funding, or shareholder value. 1% on the surface may seem negligible, however 1% compounded across the startup scene can have real impact.

Thank you, and we look forward to expanding on our charitable efforts in the future.

Our top tier WordPress hosting plan is already in use by a selected few high traffic websites. However it now has it’s own page on our website.

What is El Pollo Diablo?

Quite simply the the fastest, most secure, and most scalable WordPress hosting solution we offer. El Pollo Diablo is aimed at those sites that need to scale/load balance across multiple nodes to handle millions of pageviews a month, a week, or even a day. These are private clusters setup for you, and managed by us.

Who is El Pollo Diablo for?

El Pollo Diablo is for ballers. El Pollo Diablo is for those that look server crushing traffic in the eye and laugh. El Pollo Diablo is for those that eat glass and smoke un-filtered cigarettes. El Pollo Diablo is for those that need the absolute best in WordPress Hosting without giving up control, access, and tears.

What’s with the name?

If you have to ask, you simply are not ready to know.

Does El Pollo Diablo have a twitter?

Yes. In poorly translated Spanish no less. Why Spanish? Because It’s EL POLLO DIABLO not ‘the devil chicken’. Follow @pollodiablo

Where can I get one of those sweet El Pollo Diablo T’s?

You mean one of these? There are only 10 in existence and they are worn by the anointed ones. If you see someone wearing one I would cross the street and walk the other way before you wet yourself. We may print some more, but likely reserve them for customers only.

Is El Pollo Diablo Elephant Safe?

C E R T I F I E D. El Pollo Diablo kills limits on performance, not elephants for sport.

How do I sign up?

Power of this magnitude must be given, not taken. You may apply here and we’ll be in touch to discuss your possible rise to the upper echelons of awesome.

That is all.

PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Apr 1, 2011–Page.ly today announced major changes to its back-end interface, in an effort to satiate the underserved pet blogging market. With so many rabid pet owners opening Twitter accounts, creating Facebook pages and even writing blogs, a solution was needed to take some of the pressure off.

“Dogs have always had it rough when it comes to expressing themselves online,” Joshua Strebel, Page.ly co-founder said. “And not every cat appreciates the whole lolcats phenomenon.”

Industry analysts at first questioned Page.ly’s ability to raise enough cash to fund the transition, but Page.ly co-founder Sally Strebel provided funds from her private holdings. When asked how the money was raised, Sally revealed that she is a successful self-published author, with a series of books about a foreign-born aristocrat falling for a rogue-ish, scruffy haired local boy.

The new interface has yet to be announced, but Josh promises it will be “roll on the ground good” and “tummy-rub easy.”

“We’re very proud to finally give dogs and cats a forum where they can express themselves online” – Joshua Strebel

This marks the first major interface change for Page.ly, who had previously used the standard WordPress dashboard.

“We weren’t planning on selling, but Page.ly overwhelmed us with their offer,” former cat.ly and dog.ly domain owners said, just before posting an extremely cute pic of a dog and cat playing with a ball of string. “We’re going to stay on to help with the backend design, as the lack of opposable thumbs forces our clients to use only touch interfaces.”
Major changes to the interface include a new PawFriendly™ editor and translation on the fly, allowing dogs to use their familiar barks and cats to purr incessantly until something appears on the page.

“We’re very proud to finally give dogs and cats a forum where they can express themselves online,” Josh said. “I just hope they don’t shed too much on the desk chairs.”

So first we invented Fully Managed Secure WordPress Hosting. Then we added an affiliate program and a white label reseller option for small agencies and developers. Then came WordPress themepacks from some of the best designers around.

For our next trick we are releasing the new Page.ly Vertical Platform. In a nutshell it allows selected partners to customize their own page.ly hosting system to augment their existing service, under their brand.

As an example; our launch partner Graph Paper Press is offering a customized WP install with their entire set of themes and specialized upgrades at http://pro.graphpaperpress.com. Their market vertical is made of Photographers primarily and they have “rolled a custom install” to serve this vertical market. So rather then their customer coming to page.ly for hosting, their customer purchases a theme+support+hosting bundle in a single transaction directly from Graph Paper Press. All the benefits of page.ly like the upgrades and security go with it. Pretty snazzy eh?

This PVP option will cost you a few bucks as a partner. It is essentially a limited use software license of our entire system so of course there will be more than few pennies in setup costs and fees. However a decent sized partner that makes a meaningful effort to promote their system will achieve ROI in a few months.

Use Case: A Real Estate company could offer websites to all their agents/brokers at scale and maintain consistent branding and features. Each Agent could then customize messaging at their leisure.

Use Case: Executive coaches, or marketing professionals could augment their existing consulting business with website marketing strategy on personalized WordPress powered websites.

So if you are WordPress Theme or Plugin company, a large brand that wants to deploy websites at scale, or even a marketing guru that wants to offer consulting services on top of a hosting solution the Page.ly Vertical Platform is an ideal solution for you.

Press Release below.

[Chandler, Arizona September 8, 2010] Page.ly Vertical Platform partners define customization options to provide the look and functionality that their market vertical requires in a WordPress website while Page.ly provides secure WordPress hosting, 2 minute setup, backups, and upgrades.

Page.ly announced today a new WordPress Hosting product that allows partners to fully customize a WordPress hosting solution to suit their market vertical. The Page.ly Vertical Platform (PVP) aims at existing market leaders and enables the partner to leverage the secure hosting automation technology page.ly has developed to augment their existing business offering.

Graph Paper Press (graphpaperpress.com), a premium WordPress theme company serving a community of over 70,000 photography professionals is the PVP launch partner announcing today a bundled offering that includes All Graph Paper Press WordPress themes + Theme Support + Managed Hosting and Support package provided by page.ly for a retail price of $35/month available at http://pro.graphpaperpress.com.

“Over 50% of our client base consists of photographers that are novice web users and have no time to play system admin. While WordPress lowers the bar for publishing, Page.ly’s automated WordPress hosting service makes deploying and managing a WordPress site dead simple.” – Thad Allender, founder, Graph Paper Press

The Page.ly Vertical Platform differs from the existing page.ly reseller program as it allows for complete customization of the hosting package as well as a very tight integration and partnership with page.ly support and engineers. The PVP partner has the ability to select which plugins, themes, settings, and default content is included with each new WordPress site. Clients enjoy the same security, backups, and WordPress upgrades that all page.ly customers receive in addition to the unique offerings of the partner.

“The PVP is a natural evolution of our service. Our first year has been all about innovating the product and the space, now we are focused on expanding our market reach by providing the most secure Managed WordPress Hosting service in partnership with premier WordPress businesses and other vertical communities. WordPress Theme companies are the logical first step, but we have integration plans for WordPress Plugin developers and the Real Estate industry already in the works.” – said Joshua Strebel Co-Founder of page.ly

More Information about the Page.ly Vertical Platform program is available at http://page.ly/pvp

Business

Okay so now you are asking yourself well what about the business side and growth. Well I can say every single month has been our best month ever. We have grown anywhere from 20-50% a month, every month, with no end in site. You can peep a quick glance at a graph in this video. Page.ly is a very small company in terms of employees, family owned you could say. Page.ly is getting to be pretty good sized in terms of everything else. Automation FTW. We’re unfunded and bootstrapping this badboy for now. Pay-go-grow with profits.

28% of Pagely customers are repeat buyers

15% have more than 3 instances

Most number of instances by a single customer: 16

Over 100 Resellers

Over 300 Affiliates

So What’s next?

We are working on some pretty cool stuff, mostly on the scaling side. Our provisioning system is pretty slick if you ask me. We can provision a site on any node in the system with ease, and bringing new nodes online is fairly painless. More visible improvements coming are a major upgrade to the Reseller system, the launch of agent.page.ly, and other niche verticals, and further improvements and additions to the basic feature set.

We are also really excited about our growing Enterprise WordPress Hosting services crowned by the aptly named el Pollo Diablo; A WordPress hosting setup so aggressively powered, secure, and scalable that your momma will tell you to change your underpants before visiting a website powered by it. [Not even kidding]

A Thank You

Huge Thank you’s to all of our customers and friends. We are pretty lucky to have a pretty solid core of advocates and customers that quickly turn evangelists. It’s cliche, but we really could not have done it without you.

On Saturday, January 23 a panel of WordPress experts will discuss business models in free, open, and GPL software at the WordCamp Boston event

(PRWEB) January 21, 2010 — On Saturday, January 23 a panel of WordPress experts will discuss possible business models in free, open, and GPL software at the WordCamp Boston event. The event takes place at the Microsoft New England Research and Development Center (NERD) from 8am to 7pm.

The panel titled “Monetization in a Free World” comprises of experts such as Joshua Strebel of Page.ly, Jane Wells of Automattic, Carl Hancock of Rocket Genius, and Brian Gardner of StudioPress. Jeff Chandler of WPTavern.com will moderate the panel.

The panel intends to inform attendees of possible ways to capitalize on WordPress and share their experiences. Brian Gardner of StudioPress offers premium WordPress themes. “StudioPress is very excited about attending WordCamp Boston and sharing our experiences in the WordPress marketplace with our theme development.” says Brian. “We hope that we can inform WordPress users of many ways that they can monetize their business with the platform.”

“WordPress monetization has become a hot topic as more people have been turned on to the potential of the WordPress platform.” states Carl Hancock, founding partner at rocketgenius, creators of the Gravity Forms plugin for WordPress.

“It is a wonderful platform whose monetization potential has yet to be fully realized. Things are only going to get bigger and better in 2010 as more companies such as Page.ly, and rocketgenius bring high quality products and services to the WordPress community”

Joshua Strebel’s company, Page.ly combines WordPress hosting, domain name, webmail, WordPress install, free/premium themes, and popular plugins in a 2 minute setup.

“I’m honored to be on a panel with such a talented bunch of experts and I look forward to learning from their responses as well as contributing my knowledge for the greater good of the WordPress community.” – Strebel

Page.ly WordPress Websites is a unique offering the hosting space that combines the ease of use WordPress.com is known for plus the freedom and customization of a self installed WordPress.org platform. Page.ly recently launched a co-branded hosting product with Tech Blogger Chris Pirillo at lockergnome.net.

The panel’s moderator, Jeff Chandler manages the popular WordPress content driven community WPTavern.

“WordPress is the most popular open source publishing platform on the web today and it’s reached the point where viable businesses can be created on top of and around the software. Whether it’s extending the functionality provided by the software or running a service that takes the software to the next level, I hope to get those who have already been successful to provide insight into how they’ve been able to succeed on top of an open platform.” states Jeff.

Jane Wells of Automattic, the creators of WordPress.com, will also be speaking on the panel providing perspective.

Chris Pirillo and Page.ly launch a pair of WordPress based solutions for blogging and complete website creation.

(PRWEB) January 12, 2010 — Top tech blogger Chris Pirillo has joined forces with Page.ly, a WordPress Hosting service (http://page.ly) that features a one-of-a-kind two-minute WordPress setup, to provide free and premium web solutions. The solutions include a free blog service and a premium WordPress website service. The pair of services are located at Lockergnome.net and were created by the staff at Page.ly.

Chris Pirillo (http://chris.pirillo.com/) strives to provide an easy way for all to enjoy a web presence with blogging and social media features. “People are publishing content to Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc. anyway – not thinking about how to archive it or cross it over into their own blog. We’re providing archival options with the widely-familiar, open source experience of WordPress,” states Chris Pirillo, who publishes tech content on blogs, YouTube and his annual Gnomedex conference held in Seattle, Washington. “Lockergnome.net free blogs (http://lockergnome.net) and premium WordPress websites enable users to take more control of their online content and social space. We are not trying to compete with WordPress.com, just offering a more social experience to Lockergnome fans and others looking for an easy way to consolidate their social media activity,” continues Chris Pirillo.

The free blog service is powered by WordPress MU, BuddyPress, and includes the Lifestream plugin by David Cramer. The plugin allows users to track and archive their social media activity on their blog.

Lockergnome.net’s premium websites are powered by Arizona based startup Page.ly and sets up WordPress hosting, domain name, webmail, unrestricted WordPress install, themes and popular plugins in two-minutes. The service also includes nightly backups and automatic updates of the WordPress core. “We are very excited to be working with Chris on these WordPress projects. Page.ly is a perfect solution for getting a WordPress site setup quickly and is a natural fit for the Lockergnome premium solution.” said Joshua Strebel, founder of Page.ly.

Joshua Strebel launched Page.ly in September 2009 to offer customers a no hassle method of setting up and maintaining a self hosted WordPress site. Joshua has spoken on various WordPress topics at WordCampPHX, PodcampAZ and will be appear on a panel at WordCampBOSTON January 23rd discussing monetization strategies of the GPL WordPress software.

“Prospective customers were seeking out our web services on a regular basis. Unfortunately we could not serve every client within their budget and remain profitable. We realized we were turning money away so we developed a solution to serve these clients operating on a limited budget” said Sally Strebel, Co-Founder of Page.ly.

“We knew the solution had to be easy to use, offer professional results, and maintain the resellers brand and client relationship.”

Page.ly websites are powered by the WordPress platform and the resellers manage their client and accounts via a custom WordPress plugin.
